Top Things to Do in Cedar City

Located south of Salt Lake City and north of Las Vegas, Cedar City is the largest city in Iron County. Cedar City has it all for you and your family to enjoy! It’s the center for arts, education, entertainment, outdoor activities, and tourism. There’s also plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Brian Head Resort – Just 40 minutes east of Cedar City you will find Brian Head Ski Resort. This outdoor oasis has it all from tubing, hiking, skiing, scenic rides, mountain biking, chairlift rides, archery, zip lining, rock wall climbing, and so much more! Summer opening date is June 17 and winter opening date is November 4.

Frontier Homestead State Park Museum – Formerly known as Iron Mission State Pak, Frontier Homestead is a park and museum. Here you can learn the early history of Iron County and the story of when Brigham Young sent missionaries to mine for iron. You can get hands-on experience loading a wagon and living in a cabin amongst other things.

Southern Utah Museum of Art – Located on Southern Utah University’s campus, this art museum features work by both national and regional artists. SUMA is free and open to the public. Come out to see art collections, diverse exhibitions, and hands on experiences.

Utah Shakespeare Festival – Look no further than the Utah Shakespeare Festival if you’re a Shakespeare fan. This non-profit establishment allows you to enjoy different Shakespeare theatrical plays all year long at Beverley Taylor Sorenson Center for the Arts, Engelstad Shakespeare Theatre, Randall L. Jones Theatre, and Eileen and Allen Anes Studio Theatre.

Veterans Memorial Park – This is a beautiful 30-acre cemetery and memorial park honoring our nation’s veterans. There are monuments for various wars including Korean, Operation Iraqi Freedom/Afghanistan, Vietnam, and World War 1 and World War II. This park includes amenities such as a chapel, wall of honor, museum with military memorabilia, benches, baseball fields, and a walking trail.
